Shining Wolf was destined to be a shaman for his tribe. He lived in what would one day be called Utah amongst a tribe of Indians that he will under no circumstances name, claiming white man's names do them no justice. Unfortunately, his people were forced to fight the Union Army and the tribe's shaman was slain before he could finish his training properly. In a cold rage, Shining Wolf called together the allies of his tribe and reigned down bloody and fiery death on the Army unit who had attacked his people. Casualties were heavy on both sides, but Shining Wolf slaughtered many of the Union soldiers before they finally declared surrender. Even then, Shining Wolf led a number of young radicals to slay the remaining soldiers. That night, Shining Wolf was awoken from his restless sleep by a pale figure in a military uniform. The two struggled for several minutes before a number of braves came upon the two. For several hours, the warriors were held in awe (and by Presence) of the two. While the unknown soldier was obviously stronger, Shining Wolf was nimble and able to dodge his crude blows. Indeed merely an hour before sunrise, the soldier became like a man possessed and surprised Shining Wolf with his savage attack. Grappling and rolling on the ground, the natives were taken aback when the soldier bit deep into Shining Wolf's neck and began to drink his blood. Shining Wolf could not struggle against the Kiss, and let himself be drained. Finally, Mourning Bear, one of the leading braves managed to break the soldier's spell and rammed a spear through his heart. Taking heart form his friend's attack, Shining Wolf tore open the throat of the soldier and drank deeply, until the soldier crumbled to dust. Indeed, the sun was rising and Shining Wolf lay on the ground, still bleeding to death. The women took him to his tent and tended his wounds, but they could not find his heartbeat, and they wailed in anguish. Indeed the entire trib mourned the passing of such a young hero. However, such mourning proved unfounded when that evening, Shining Wolf strode out of the tent, with no visible sign of the battle, but the scars where the soldier had slashed his eye with his inhuman claws. Instinctively, the young shaman knew that he had become one of the Nightwalkers and he made a blood pact with Mourning Bear, granting him great strength and other abilities. Unfortunately, even this turn of events was not enough to keep his tribe from being extinguished a few years later. Shining Wolf became so depressed that he went into torpor in a deep cave and Mourning Bear took it upon himself to protect his brother, feeding him the blood of his kills and taking a bit when he needed it. He watched, amazed as his youth was maintained through the turn of the century. Finally, in late 1920, Shining Wolf awoke and was intrigued by the new world that was nothing like the one he left. He came forth and was surprised to meet a number of the Nightwalkers living behind the scenes of the white men's new world of metal and smoke. Angered by the way the Nightwalkers had broken his people, he swore a blood oath to do the same to them. He learned of the Anarch Revolt in Europe and began to start rumours of a new one in the United States, calling upon the new ones, knowing how to use their youth and anger to his advantage. It took several decades, but the Anarchs managed to take over the West Coast. Feeling empowered by their victories, Shining Wolf (who had taken to calling himself "Sin" in rebellion against the white man's religion), moved to the East Coast, where he quietly encouraged the Anarchs to revolt. He moved from Florida up to Maine, where he is currently. He has managed to enlist a number of Anarchs, including Fitch and Jasmine, who think he is much younger than he in fact is. |
