Name: Saul al-Shemu Born: 1718 Embraced:1734 A.D. Apparent Age: Late Teens Generation: 7 Sire: Constantine Clan: Assamite Nationality: Egyptian |
Saul al-Shemu was born to a prostitute on the streets of Cairo in 1718. His mother claimed he was the son of a British soldier who had nearly killed her when she told him she was pregnant. He grew up in squalor, hating his father and the larger, darker-skinned boys who would beat him and mock him as he did his chores. One day, Maliq, one of the biggest bullies in the neighborhood cornered Saul in a back alley. Maliq intended to beat Saul to the appropriate shade of black and he began doing so, by shattering a heavy clay water jug that Saul had been carrying over the boys head. Then something in Saul snapped. When he came to, Maliq lay in a deep puddle of dark blood, a clay shard jammed deep into his throat. Saul ran away, terrified. However, he was found the next morning by a tall thin man who called himself Ghede. He respectfully took the boy from his mother's side and confronted him about the assault the day before. Strange patterns adorned the cheeks of the stranger and they fascinated Saul. He spoke the truth to the best of his memory as he stared at the tattooed dots that covered the man's cheeks. The man smiled at his story and then went to speak to his mother. She nodded as the man spoke to her, but the look on her face was one of sadness. She then took Saul aside and explained to him that he was to go with the man. Saul didn't want to, but obeyed his mother like the good son he was. Ghede brought the boy into an organization called the Scorpion Wind, a guild of thieves and assassins. Ghede revealed himself to be a cousin of the young lad and insisted on training him to the potential Ghede claimed to see in him. Months passed and the Scorpion Wind became a family to Saul. He trained for several years under them. Then one day, an easy hit turned out to be a trap and Ghede did not return. The leaders of the guild could do nothing and would not allow Saul to seek vengeance. Saul became angry and began training himself, eventually challenging and besting each of the leaders of the guild, consolidating their power as his own. When he finally controlled the guild single-handedly, Saul prepared to strike. Unfortunately, fate had other plans. Saul was kidnapped by a strange man who called himself Constantine. He made grand promises of powers beyond Saul's comprehension and when Saul mesmerized him with the tattoo trick his cousin had taught him on his fifteenth birthday, he discovered the old man was not lying. However, though the man could be mesmerized, Saul could not strike him, seeming to fall under the same spell of his tattoos. He would later discover this only happened when he attempted it on Kindred of lower Generations. At Alumet, Saul was challenged and he fought all the harder, knowing that his destiny awaited him back in Cairo, in the form of several British soldiers who would die for the death of his cousin. When Saul returned to Cairo, he had changed greatly. He had gained a dark beauty from the Embrace, and revelled in it, changing his name to Solomon. He travelled with his sire Constantine and made short work of finding and killing the six soldier who murdered Ghede. However, while he had been gone, his mother had succumbed to syphilis and passed on. Solomon never truly forgave Constantine for that. The pair travelled Europe and in the late 1801, Solomon was amazed to find he had fallen for the beautiful Alicia of York, a British Lasombra who had been exiled when her sire had been found by the forces of Mithras and destroyed. The two met in Paris and made fast compatriots. Solomon made quick work to hide the dalliances from Constantine, who seemed to be growing more and more tired of existence. Indeed, nine years later, the Elder Assamite released his progeny with ancillae status and went his own way, to parts unknown. Solomon spent several years in search of Alicia, who had vanished many years before. He encountered her again in 1880, on a boat to the United States. Soon thereafter, he joined the Sabbat and has never left her side. The pair had been assisting the Canadian Sabbat in their attempts to take Northern Maine, and were sent to scout Milhaven, with the assistance of the Tzimisce, Gray. Since then, he has been contacted by an Assamite antitribu in relation to a hit on the Underlord for an unrevealed sponsor.
